What is coaching and how can it help me? 

Coaching helps you identify goals, overcome challenges and unlock potential by structuring the conversations. You are the most powerful part of the coaching conversation because you have the answers ... but just as it's hard to scratch your own back, it can be hard to find the answers by yourself. 
As your coach, Karen will help you do that. 

Coaching will help you 

  • Determine your purpose and help you create a roadmap to achieve it
  • Identify what is stopping you and find a way around it 
  • Build your confidence to become the best version of yourself 
  • Develop skills to future proof your decision making 

 

Karen works online, in person, while walking in nature ( and geography allowing )  or over a coffee.   

 

 

Ready for coaching? 

If you decide that you are ready to go ahead with coaching, you will be investing time and money in yourself. It is vital that you are aware of what coaching is and, almost more importantly, what it isn't. 

Coaching and counselling are both forms of personal development but they differ in focus, approach and goals.  Everyone has a different path and timescale which is completely understandable and normal.  

Particularly following a loss, some people may need to invest in counselling before moving to coaching, some may undertake both at the same time, others may head straight to coaching. 

Focus 

Coaching is mainly future focused helping people find positive ways to move forward after a loss. Karen will help you set personal goals, create new routines and gradually build a fulfilling life.

Counselling is past or present focused, processing emotions and addressing complex issues associated with stages of grief and healing.

Approach

Coaching is typically action orientated, helping people to find coping strategies and find purpose and meaning after loss. Karen will encourage new perspectives and ways to create positive memories.

Counselling is more reflective, using therapeutic techniques to allow people to work through guilt, regret, and to cope with the reality of their loss. 

Goal 

The goal of coaching is to empower people to adapt and create a meaningful life after loss. Karen will focus on helping you to move forward and grow in a healthy way and at your pace. 

The goal of counselling is to help people understand and accept their feelings of grief, this may often involve specialised approaches around complex emotions.

Coaching options

One to one or group coaching sessions, online or in-person if geographically possible.

Blocks of six or twelve sessions 

Sessions - 55 minutes

Transformational or grief coaching 

Laser sessions 

Single sessions of targeted coaching interventions to address a specific issue or challenge. 

Laser sessions are most effective as support between sessions in a coaching block if something specific arises.
